Approx 1.2 KGS of High Tensile Steel Per Tire
High-grade steel used in radial tires is widely used in a variety of industries. The steel survives the pyrolysis process in clean, unaltered form. It is graded ASTM-1080 and is in high demand at electric “mini-mills” as the “birds nest”. It is placed in the base of the mill forming a cushion against the sharp, heavy steel scrap.
Steel recycling plays an important role in the conservation of energy and resources. Re-melting steel requires far less energy than the production of new steel products from raw iron ore. The North America steel industry has been recycling steel for more than century. In the US alone, millions of tons of steel are recycled in mini-mills and foundries annually.
